Before last night’s clean sweep of Extreme Rules The Shield was the hottest thing in professional wrestling. Now that every member of The Shield has WWE gold around their waist who or more importantly what is it going to take down a trio of guys who are on their way to becoming the best stable of all time, if the WWE doesn’t screw it up of course. Is there any babyface in the mid card that can match Dean Ambrose‘s intensity? Is there any tag team or two guys that could work together that can stop the brutal force of Roman Reigns or the high-flying ability of Seth Rollins? The members of The Shield and the WWE are in a PERFECT spot to not only capitalize on the moment, but allow these guys to blossom into stars for years and even decades to come.
1. It’s something subtle but giving Ryback a promo on top of an expensive prop like an ambulance really makes him seem like a bigger star in the fans eyes. Not everyone does something like that and while he still needs a lot of work in the promo delivery department, this is a small step in the ring direction for a guy who’s heel character soured quickly. I also like that he dropped the leather jacket for a “Stone Cold” vest. A guy as massive as he is shouldn’t be wearing a thick coat as part of his gimmick. But please ditch “Ryback Rules”… it truly is one of the worst catchphrases in recent memory.
2. Chris Jericho might be the “Man Of 1,004 Holds” but Wade Barrett is the man of 1,000 theme songs. And they’re all bad. The scary part is that they seem to be getting worse as time goes on.
1. This is the first time I’ve been able to see the new preshow and the idea is growing on me. I like the idea of using different superstars/legends every time & also the fact that it doesn’t seem to be scripted at all. It allows some of the better talkers to show what they can do when not handed a script from a writer. I’m intrigued to see who is on future shows and who sinks or swims. That being said, there’s no way in hell I’m staying awake for a PPV post-show. For a company who already knows they have too much programming, why the hell would they add more?!
2. Dean Ambrose vs Kofi Kingston was one of the best matches of the year thus far. The only time the match’s paced slowed was when Ambrose locked on the classic Bob Backlund “Crossface Chicken Wing”. The ground game of Ambrose played off of Kingston’s aerial moves perfectly and the finish clean! A heel actually won a championship cleanly! Great match and great chemistry between these two wrestlers and I recommend going out of your way to see these match when you can.
Hello everyone. As you may have read, we are starting to review every wrestling show on the block when it comes to pro wrestling. I’ll be reviewing RAW and Main Event for the time being. Look for my Main Event reviews on Thursday nights. You get it early this week because I don’t have to be in to work til noon!
-Miz is on commentary? Maybe I should just go back to bed.
Seth Rollins vs Kane
-The stip for the Tag Title match at Extreme Rules is a Tornado Tag match. A bit of a reach for a stip but at least the action keeps moving.
By popular demand, here’s a brand new wallpaper for the hottest stable in pro-wrestling… The Shield. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a new Shield wallpaper on the site & “The Hounds Of Justice” have beaten everyone in the WWE since then.
Six months into their debut Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns have taken the wrestling world and internet community by storm, paving their way to stardom beyond the likes of The Legacy and The Four Horsemen. These three men possess characteristics that many professional wrestlers strive to have, and it was only a matter of time until the powers that be all noticed what the fans noticed years ago. While the three of them, particularly Ambrose and Rollins, spent a little longer than some of us hoped at NXT but there time is now. Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns are with the main roster now, and probably for years to come. But like every great stable before them, there comes a time when the characters inside of a group become bigger than the group itself, hate me for saying that or don’t believe me just ask Rocky Maivia if he wasn’t bigger than The Nation of Domination. Once The Shield’s time to break up comes, what happens to the three members that captivated the WWE Universe? What does the wrestling gods of fate have in store for Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns?
Justin Gabriel v. Leo Kruger
: Justin Gabriel and Leo Kruger have competed against each other on a few other occasions since Kruger ‘hurt’ Gabriel’s tag team partner Tyson Kidd and while I have enjoyed their matches together nothing has really come of it.
: The two men exchanged submission moves until Gabriel climbed the top rope to hit the 450 Splash but Kruger punched and dragged Justin down and applied his finishing submission maneuver to pick up the victory.
: Nice video package of the NXT Stars at WrestleMania Axxess, especially the backstage moments with The Shield.
