Ryback is Satan?
After the usual Memorial Day video package, and our first recap of the night, John Cena came out. Cena came out and said there was a lot of unrest in the building. He said there was also controversy after Extreme Rules, since neither man could answer the referee’s ten count. That means both men have a right to the WWE Championship. And last week Ryback wanted to solve that dilemma with an Ambulance Match. Cena said that at Payback, it is going to be a Three Stages of Hell Match. The first stage is a Lumberjack Match, the second a Tables Match, and finally an ambulance match. Cena said after he wins the first two falls, the ambulance from the third stage would be used to drive Ryback out of the building.
1. It’s something subtle but giving Ryback a promo on top of an expensive prop like an ambulance really makes him seem like a bigger star in the fans eyes. Not everyone does something like that and while he still needs a lot of work in the promo delivery department, this is a small step in the ring direction for a guy who’s heel character soured quickly. I also like that he dropped the leather jacket for a “Stone Cold” vest. A guy as massive as he is shouldn’t be wearing a thick coat as part of his gimmick. But please ditch “Ryback Rules”… it truly is one of the worst catchphrases in recent memory.
2. Chris Jericho might be the “Man Of 1,004 Holds” but Wade Barrett is the man of 1,000 theme songs. And they’re all bad. The scary part is that they seem to be getting worse as time goes on.
Ryback: Facts of Life Fan
RAW started with Ryback making an entrance via ambulance. Ryback stood on top of the ambulance and said there was no winner last night. And while John Cena walked away with the WWE Championship, he didn’t walk away, he was carried away. They showed footage of Cena refusing medical attention last night. Ryback said the next time they meet, Cena won’t refuse. Ryback said he didn’t give a damn about what people thought anymore. He proposed an Ambulance Match against John Cena at Payback. Ryback then began to rip on the crowd, calling them fat and weak and that they would skip an ambulance and go straight to the morgue. He called them pathetic for worshipping John Cena. Ryback said he would take John Cena to the morgue at Payback, and there is only one fact of life, “Ryback Rules.”
We are a week away from Extreme Rules. Will Triple H get revenge for Brock Lesnar destroying his office? Will Ryback continue to morph into Goldberg? And will anyone care to order Extreme Rules? Follow along to find out!
What A Rip Off!
RAW started with Jerry Lawler in the ring introducing Fandango and Chris Jericho for the Dance-Off. Fandango said he didn’t lose the dance contest to the Great Khali. The crowd didn’t respect his abilities. Jericho brought up him winning the musical chairs competition and winning the Price is RAW with Bob Barker. Fandango went first, but didn’t dance. He said he needed silence and told the crowd to “SHHH.” They finally started, but Summer Rae tripped and hurt her ankle. Jericho and her dancer checked on her as Fandango left in disgust. Fandango came back in and attacked Jericho. Fandango threw Jericho into the announce table, then the steps and barricade. He then grabbed a piece of the dance floor and hit Jericho with it. Fandango then jumped back into the ring and Summer Rare hoped up, showing she was faking the whole time.
This Is Why We Don’t Like John Cena
John Cena came out, RUNNING TO THE RING! Way to sell that injury John. He said that it has been a week of unrest in the WWE. He did Daniel Bryan’s Yes/No chant. He said competing on RAW last week was a bad idea, but it wouldn’t stop him from competing at Extreme Rules. He said he was confused by Ryback’s gaze into his eyes last week, and he is DTF. That means he is ready to “Do The Fandango.” He then talked about some photo with Betty White. He said he may not be 100%, but that isn’t going to stop him from defending his WWE Championship.
What A Lucky Ref
RAW starts with a triple threat match between Big E Langston, Zeb Colter and Ricardo. The winner gets to pick the stipulation for the World Title Match at Extreme Rules. Zeb left the ring and let Big E go after Ricardo. Big E hit a shoulder tackle then a couple of backbreakers. Big E speared Ricardo in the corner. Ricardo jumped out of the way of another and Big E went right into the post. Ricardo and Zeb took turns punching Big E. Zeb and Ricardo had a stare down, allowing Big E to come in and hit a spear on Ricardo. Zeb tried getting involved, but Big E scared him off and Zeb faked a knee injury. Big E hit a belly to belly on Ricardo. Alberto del Rio came in and took out Big E, Dolph took out Del Rio as Swagger clotheslined Dolph and Big E out of the ring. Zeb went to pin Ricardo, but A.J. broke up the count by blocking the ref’s arm from coming down. What a lucky ref. Ricardo rolled up Zeb to pick up the win.
