Curt Hawkins vs. Sami Zayn
<- Woah, Curt Hawkins sighting! Interesting side note, Hawkins new ring gear was actually made by a local New York Mets fan-run clothing designer similar to what Barber Shop Window does for wrestling.
<- This is the WWE TV debut for Zayn and I’m interested to see how he works with a guy who’s been working the WWE-style for a long time now.
<- Nice Steamboat-esque armdrags from Zayn.
<- Zayn picks up his first win with a very clean tornado DDT off the top rope. Good debut & his personality is going to meld great with the WWE audience.
<- Nice video package on Corey Graves. With his unique look, style and intensity, I’m anxious to see him up on the main roster.
Antonio Cesaro vs. Yoshi Tatsu
<- Simple squash match that we’re not really used to seeing on NXT. Obviously the squash was in favor of Cesaro. Cesaro cut the same promo that he did a couple of weeks ago on Raw. I mean word for word the same promo except that he was interrupted by Sami Zayn, setting up a match. This going to be damn fun.
Antonio Cesaro vs. Sami Zayn
<- Damn, Cesaro basically jumped onto Zayn’s throat and then leveled him with a stiff clothesline.
<- Good God! And a running European uppercut that literally echoed in the arena.
<- Cesaro deadlifted Zayn out of a small package into a vertical suplex (INSANE!) but Zayn slipped out of the suplex and schoolboy’ed Cesaro for a 3 count!
<- Cesaro attacked Zayn after the match but damn this was an impressive night for Sami Zayn.
Enzo Amore vs. Mason Ryan
<- I’m not sure who Enzo Amore is but his opening promo was ridiculous. It made me extremely excited to see that Mason Ryan was going to squash him.
<- Ryan wins with a Torture Rack into a neckbreaker. I like the idea of bringing Mason Ryan back to NXT. With the re-branding of NXT from FCW, this is a perfect place for Ryan to gain some much needed grooming.
<- Stephanie McMahon is going to be on the show next week with an “historic announcement”. (I’m guessing she announces the introduction of the NXT Divas Championship).
<- There will also be a battle royal next week to determine the new number one contender to Big E Langston‘s NXT Championship.
Corey Graves vs. Bray Wyatt
<- This really feels like a match between the two best characters still stuck in developmental. Graves is VERY similar to when CM Punk debuted with WWE-ECW while Wyatt reminds me of when Punk led the Straight Edge Society, just a helluva lot creepier.
<- Wyatt just hit a low cross body on Graves that was stiffer and more intense than any “spear” I’ve seen done in years.
<- Wyatt wins when the family distracts the referee and Wyatt hits his finisher. Kassius Ohno comes down to the ring to save Graves from a beatdown but gets beatdown himself.
<- Good show with the obvious spotlight on Zayn. I’m excited for next week’s battle royal & hopefully NXT moving on and away from Big E Langston.
