<- The video quality of this week’s show looks terrific! Except for being able to see the hockey benches & penalty boxes in the background. Although they are in Canada so I guess every arena is a hockey arena.
<- Steve Corino is on commentary for the first time since S.C.U.M. won their tag team match at Border Wars. It’s going to get a little confusing because Corino sounds almost exactly like Kevin Kelly.
<- Jimmy Jacobs pins Lethal clean with his finisher. I’m always so surprised that Jacobs never had a run in TNA or at least WWE development.
<- The crowd popped big for the potential Briscoe vs Briscoe match for the ROH Title. But wow I just do not understand the appeal of either of these guys. Yes, I’ve been a casual ROH fans for years and I’ve never really been a fan of the Briscoes but now that they are essentially the World title picture I find them even more annoying.
Cliff Compton & Rhett Titus vs. Cedric Alexander & Caprice Coleman
<- Compton is an interesting addition to the ROH locker room. His style doesn’t really fit the “ROH mold” but hey, neither does Matt Hardy & he’s a semi-regular for ROH now too. Their “big league” style of wrestling stands out more in a company full of high spot & chain wrestling style of competitors.
<- S.C.U.M. pick up the win in what was somewhat of a sloppy match. It definitely had its bright moments and I guess some missed/loose spots come with the style of wrestling Alexander & Coleman employ.
<- I know I said this last week but damn is Steen over as ROH’s top babyface. He’s absolutely capitalized on the anti-hero babyface who you know you probably shouldn’t cheer but you like him better than the “real” bad guys (S.C.U.M.).
<- Seeing more and more of Kevin Steen’s style helps me realize why the WWE or TNA hasn’t picked him up. While his offense is extremely impressive and innovative, it’s also extremely dangerous. One slip and I absolutely see Steen paralyzing someone.
<- Adam Cole picks up the win with a German suplex after interference from S.C.U.M. leading to more speculation that Cole is joining the group. Good match between two drastically different sized guys. Steen had most of the offense during the match with some hope spots for Cole but in the end it all made sense with the flukey way that Cole won the match.
<- I know it’s the company’s main storyline but every match featured S.C.U.M. one way or another and it was pretty overbearing. I’m ok with warring factions and factions trying to take over the company but because ROH only has an hour a week, featuring the same storyline in every segment is just too much. It reminded me of when the nWo split into the Wolfpac & the Black and White, it just over saturated the shows.
