The NXT title would be decided on this night but first it was Paige taking on Sasha Banks to kick off NXT. Paige quickly went for several submission holds. Paige continued to wear down Banks until she managed to escape. Banks hit Paige with the fireman escape and went for a quick pin but only for a one count. Both women back on their feet exchanged blows until Paige grabbed a piece of Sasha’s hair and threw her like a rag doll as Jim Ross would say. Paige hit Sasha with a suplex but only for a near fall. Paige had all the momentum until Sasha rolled her up in a small package for another near fall. Paige, upset with the NXT rookie, grabbed her and hit the Paige Turner for the victory.
Backstage Roman Reigns was interviewed. Reigns said he was more important than the interview and took a phone calling as he walked away. The camera cut to Leo Kruger and Kassius Ohno somewhere backstage. Ohno said that anyone that got in their way would need intensive care, even William Regal.
Oliver Gray was already waiting in the ring when Bray Wyatt’s music hit. Wyatt introduced another member of his family, his son; Wyatt told Gray good luck, because he was going to need it. The newest disciple of Bray Wyatt beat down the young Oliver, the unknown man stoop over Gray until Oliver moved out-of-the-way he went for a punch but Wyatt’s disciple countered and hit a big side-walk slam for the easy win.
Dusty Rhodes’ music hit and out came the WWE Legend. Rhodes said that while Vickie Guerrero is welcome at NXT anytime, she will not be putting bounties on anyone’s head while he is in charge. Camacho came out and said he needed that money and if Dusty got rid of the bounty he would open one on Dusty’s head instead. Big E Langston’s music hit and out he came. Dusty Rhodes’ held Langston back while he announced next week Langston would take on Camacho and a partner of his choosing.
Big Show was shown backstage and said he was here to accept the open challenge of Bo Dallas, and to make sure he never does that again. Next week Big Show takes on Bo Dallas.
Jinder Mahal made his way down the aisle to the music of 3MB for the first time on NXT. It was time for the NXT title to be decided, Seth Rollin’s music hit and out came the champion, clearly pumped up as he spun himself and his title all around the NXT arena. Rollins went right after Mahal, but Jinder placed himself in between the ropes, as Rollins backed up Jinder hit him in the face. Rollins ran back toward Jinder but again Mahal escaped. Rollins was still willing to chase Jinder all around the ring until Mahal caught him and tossed the champion back in the ring. Rollins regained control and hit several kicks to the chest of Jinder. Rollins went for the pin but only for a short two count. Seth climbed up to the top rope for a high risk maneuver but Jinder pushed him off and back near the crowd. Mahal had gained the momentum and rolled Seth back into the ring and covered the champion but only for a near fall. Mahal continued the beating on Rollins, moving him to the ring post and using it as an ally. Jinder hit a back breaker on Rollins but again only for a count of two. Rollins began to slap at the chest of Jinder trying to gain some momentum but Jinder quickly regained control and applied the sleeper hold. Rollins reversed it and had Mahal wrapped in a small package but Jinder kicked out. Mahal, again quickly stopped any kind of momentum Rollins was trying to get going. Again the challenger applied a sleeper hold until Seth escaped but Jinder quickly put Rollins into the corner and hit a drop kick. Jinder went for another cover and for the third time in the match Rollins kicked out at two. Jinder continued to wear down the champion as the crowd’s noise grew in support of Seth Rollins. Rollins hit a roundhouse kick to Mahal’s face buying him a moment of time to breathe. Jinder ran toward Seth but Rollins hit a huge drop kick knocking down Jinder. Mahal rolled out of the ring but Rollins was right behind him, as Seth hit the suicide dive between the ropes to Mahal. Rollins took Mahal up to the top rope and went for a high impact flip off but Jinder countered mid-air and almost picked up the victory again. Mahal, not sure what he can do to finish Seth, went for the second rope jumped and was met by Rollins boot to the stomach. Both men trying to get to their feet, but it was Jinder who won that race. Mahal had Seth countered but Seth countered him until Mahal hit Seth in the back of the head and went for the Camel Clutch. Seth escaped, ran toward the ropes and hit the Sky Walker on Jinder and picked up the 1,2,3 for the win and to send himself and the crowd home happy.
